Some interresting Facts about the Lithium Storage Battery
A great starting point is the 5KW Home Solar System with Batteries, in most cases a single battery is installed on the initial installation of the system.This works great and helps the systems “Night Shift”.
The Lithium Battery Storage on an Inverter has two uses. The primary function is to provide power when there is no Sunlight (Night) and No Grid (Eskom) available.
The Second function (self consumption) is to provide power at night with the battery as the first source of power. When the system does this it increases the Return of Investment (ROI) Dramatically.
We have numerous 5KW Home Solar Systems with Batteries in the field and have done research between the systems that have 1 x Lithium Battery and systems that have 2 x Lithium Batteries.
When the function of “using the battery storage at night” is activated on the inverter the systems with 1 battery reaches +/- 70% depletion around 12am – 2am, thus only leaving 10% safe use until the morning hours for solar to supply.

How many solar panels are needed to power a house?
To determine the amount of solar panels required to run a house it is beneficial that you know what the load will be during the day. The load + charging of the batteries must be taken into consideration, for example if the load it 500W and the batteries are charging at 1000W then you will require enough solar panels to supply 1500W.
Do You Really Save Money With Solar Panels?
If the system is designed accordingly with the above in mind, then Definitely you will save on your municipal account. The appliances that are used during the day will be powered by the solar panels and not from the grid.
